A ‘marshmallow goal’ is a goal that’s wobbly and artificial. A goal that is soft in construction. The goal will melt or get squashed once the heat is turned up or pressure applied. The idea of a ‘marshmallow goal’ feels, smells and tastes sweet. It’s a ‘nice’ goal to have. A ‘hey look, I’ve set a goal, tick for me’ kind of goal. The result is a short-lived energy boost. It may give immediate gratification. You’ll feel the ‘drop’ not long after you begin. It’s of no long-term benefit.
Gratitude is an attitude and as we look to all that we have to be thankful for instead of dwelling on what our problems are we will find that we too can be whisked away to the state that we wish to be in.
