A practice of gratitude will:
The brain can’t respond to anxiety and gratitude at the same time, which means it’s one or the other. We can feel anxious and other negative states, or we can feel grateful and all of the positive emotions that are associated with it.

I first came across a powerful journaling exercise on Instagram some years ago, where Elizabeth Gilbert showed how she amplifies her gratitude practice. Not just three things I’m grateful for kind of mental checklist, an approach where you write until you’ve run out of thankful thoughts. I’ve been introduced to similar practices of deepening gratitude since.
Today being the 1st of June and the first day of Winter in Australia, feels just right to me for a reflective gratitude practice.
We’ve been through floods, never-ending rain that started on Christmas day, and that’s just what nature has delivered to us. It’s fair to say that after such a rocky path into 2022, anything that supports us reduce inflammation, lower our stress, reverse depression and increase our optimism is better than the alternative!
You are welcome to either print and use or if you don’t have access to a printer, grab a piece of A4 paper, a serviette, whatever is handy and draw yourself a similar template and get started writing out all the things you are grateful for onto a full page.
That’s OK. If you struggle with one area, you might want to give yourself a new label that you’d rather focus on. No rules, no right or wrong, just write.
I believe you will feel wonderfully full of good vibes after you complete this exercise. However, if you don’t, then please contact me and we can have a chat about what’s out of balance for you right now. I’m here to chat, anytime.
If you’d like to share with me how the practice worked for you, or any insights you had from completing it, please reach out.
I like to come back to this practice, on a quarterly or change-of-seasons basis, to keep the Gratitude Cup full.
You can create anything you want! Let’s get your genius out into the world.
