The good news or empowering news is that within us we have what is termed our Creator Essence: not roles but who we are at our core.
I began this series of blogs in November because it is the start of the ‘silly season’ that many of us struggle to navigate. It’s a time of year when the Dreaded Drama Triangle™ roles of Victim, Persecutor, and Rescuer show up when planning the extended family’s Christmas Day or preparing to sit around the Dining Table! I thought that by sharing this topic, it might help readers make sense of some of the unhealthy dynamics that might play out in their families at this time of year.
Fear is a fundamental part of the human experience, shaping our responses and behaviours from a young age.
This triangle has three parts: the Persecutor, the Victim, and the Rescuer. But here’s the catch: these roles aren’t fixed. We can switch them around, play them all by ourselves or with others, and some of the roles don’t need to be played by human beings; they can be numbing habits we adopt. No wonder we sometimes feel so tangled up.
