When we are no longer able to change a situation – we are challenged to change ourselves.
Dr Viktor E Frankl, author, neurologist, psychiatrist and holocaust survivor.
Self-talk or mind-chatter can get so frustrating and exhausting to listen to, with its going around in circles day and night, can’t it?
So much so, you finally get sick and tired of telling yourself (or others, if that’s your thing) about how the situation could, should or would be different, if only I, he, she, this, they, that (your previous actions, other people’s words and actions, external events) were to change.
“where do you personally have control or influence over this issue?”
If it’s about your desire for someone else needing to change – you cannot say you have that control or influence.
The options shift to a far more powerful, effective list of what can be done. It comes down to changing our desired outcome, our thoughts, our perceptions, our actions. That we can do!
I’ve been challenged many times in my own life to change myself: in what finally comes as a usually silent, intuitive and certain ‘light bulb’ realisation. That realisation has always turned into the absolutely best and simplest option available to me. I just hadn’t seen it.
Strange isn’t it, how those kinds of silent, intuitive and certain ‘light bulb’ realisations just come, when you’re sitting quietly for a moment?
When they do, the feelings of clarity, peace, purposeful and proactive action steps to take come next.
Changing YOU can be the fastest way to let YOU move on with what’s truly important to YOU.
Do you feel a sense of realisation that you are no longer able to change a situation in your own life? How does the idea of accepting the challenge to change yourself sit with you?
Not certain how to go about making that change? Please reach out, that’s what coaching is all about. Book a call to have a chat, no obligation, just a non-judgmental, confidential ear I can lend you and see if you’d like to go any further, or you might well resolve your issue in just taking that one baby step forward in making the call.
Take care,
Susan
