I feel it would be helpful to share an excerpt from an article by New York therapist, Sarah Allen on transitioning from one version of yourself to another.
No one ever really teaches us about the pain that occurs during personal transformation. We are growing… and with that, comes growing pains.
The hardest times in life to go through are when you are transitioning from one version of yourself to another.
Sarah Allen
Most of the time we are cracked open raw in order to heal and be the next version of who we need to be.
No matter what transition you are going through, even if it’s the best of them, do not underestimate the transition time.
- It takes courage to make moves.
- It takes strength to manage emotions.
- It takes power to find your authenticity, again and again, as we shift through different roles in our lives.
Embrace the journey and allow the challenges of the transition to be a part of it.
Change takes time, your time, you’re not running against someone else’s clock, timeline or meeting anyone else’s expectations (real or presumed) of you.
To effect massive change, be sure to check-in with yourself on your progress. Sometimes it’s hard to see.
As a coach, and as your accountability buddy, I will see it when you don’t. Progress is always there.
Why not start with a simple quiz checking in with your self-trust?
The PDF version of the Quiz is available via this link. Don’t over-think your answers and feel free to bring your completed quiz to a first session of coaching for us to look at what you learnt and how you can make changes.
It’s an inside out process. Just one small action is all you need right now to get started.
Take care,
Susan
