Do you ever wander into a good bookshop, and a book is there waiting, knowing you were there to buy it?
It happened recently to me in the form of a hardcover book, ‘Magickal Faerytales’ by Lucy Cavendish.
It brought back memories of me as a little girl, going to the library on a Thursday night, with my dad. I knew exactly where the Fairy Tale Book section was and would walk out holding a library bag full of new wonders, to go home, find a peaceful corner, and get lost in the magic and adventure.
Lucy explains in her book, the adult perspective of what ancient fairytales are about. The Ancient Fairytales are:
“about survival. Surviving our families most often, and being sent out into a world which is hostile and navigating the new worlds in which we find ourselves, without bitterness or rancour”.
Sharing stories is the theme of my Coffee and Contemplation with Susan podcast series, and stories read by us at an early age might be something to contemplate as well.
Do you believe in Serendipity?
This book & Clarissa Estes’ audio “Women Who Run With The Wolves” that I’ve mentioned before, both appeared together. At the same time I gained my certification in hypnosis. It sort of reminds of me of that saying “when the student is ready, the teacher appears”.
In hypnosis, we use metaphors (stories). Opening metaphors in loops, ready to deliver a lesson, and closing loops. Closing one or some loops, maybe, not all loops – an incredible way to allow the unconscious mind to open, learn & stay curious. How curious, don’t you agree?
Hypnosis is used for anxiety relief, stress reduction, releasing bad habits, quitting smoking, becoming lean & healthy.
(Here’s a hot tip: ever talk about ‘losing’ weight? When we say we lose something the unconscious will usually oblige us in finding it again 🤔).
Best of all, it enhances performance enhancement 🤩 to dial up the outcome of desires and goals coming to fruition 💯
Maybe, it is just my time, well, I have turned 55 in these past few months, to be adult enough to explore the magic of storytelling again.
Maybe, it’s the right time for you too, to re-explore your childhood enjoyment of reading fairytales or your favourite stories – whether to benefit yourself or a child you love, or both.
I’ve popped in a short interlude in the podcast show contemplating this topic here – enjoy 🌟
