Learning as a Core Value

Learning as a Core Value.

Learning is endless, in the myriad of forms it takes – be it simple life skills, a new hobby, personal or professional development.

Learning is about choosing growth and maximising our opportunity to contribute.

I don’t know anyone who values learning, who doesn’t share that gift with the world. Even at a creative level, the ripple effect of me saying ‘yes’ to go try mosaics with a friend, has influenced many others we know to go try a hobby, in all sorts of fun and inspiring forms.

So, learning is not just for ourselves, although to me it does enrich daily life.

Learning clearly benefits those we love, those we surround ourselves with, the community in which we live and whom we serve.

The past 12 months has given us millions of examples of opportunities to learn:

  • Since this time last year, what would you say are 1 or 2 key lessons for you in life, your career, your health, your relationships or for your business?
  • What have you chosen to do or try that’s different and good due to those lessons learnt?
  • What lessons did you have from our 2020 State elections given us here in terms of values-based leadership; and
  • what do you think can be taken from the never-ending ‘Punch & Judy’ show in the US?

Learning, to me, is very much tied in to the choice of being someone who lives “At Cause” or someone being “At Effect”.

In NLP we talk about these being:

At Cause = seeking to understand others, speaking up, taking ownership and action, getting results, making good things happen

OR

At Effect = expectations, giving excuses, placing blame, choose silence v conflict, all the reasons why not.

I hope for the US people whom I know and love and who do live 100% “At Cause”, rather than sit “At Effect”, that the transfer of government will have a peaceful ending and beginning at the same time on 21 January 2021.

I wonder how many ‘smudge sticks’ it will take to do a full ‘clearing’ of the White House?
